About Archaic Christianity
This site is devoted to the understanding of early Christianity. This includes not only the study of the
New Testament, but also its historical context, its linguistic context, and the rise of early Christianity.
This subject is broad, so expect some topics to be covered better than others. Some of the material will be
for the interested "lay person" with no academic background. Some will be more academic in nature and will
require proficiency in certain topics to follow well. I intend to make the distinction between the two so
you, the visitor, will know if something might be worth your read.
In the beginning all contributions will be made by Eric B. Sowell. Contributions from others are
welcome, though if contributions are made, they must make it past me (Eric). A contributor does not need to
agree with me, but I obviously reserve the right to not post something if I do not think it is appropriate,
not well written, or not well researched.
About Me
I received a bachelor of arts in Religion from the University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor in 1999. I then went to Dallas Theological Seminary and
graduated with a Master of Theology with a focus in the academic study of the New Testament. Along with
studies of a religious nature, I also have an interest in programming. If you have any interest in following
broader aspects of my life, you can keep a watch on my other blog.
I am a father of two with one on the way and I live in the Dallas, TX area. I am a member of a reformed Baptist
church, First Baptist Church of Parker, TX. If you are ever
in the area on a Sunday, drop on in!
